It’s a great family car.
Like pretty awesome actually.
Volkswagen knows how to make a proper Sport Mode.

Yep, VW makes a nice car. Comfy, good ride, nice turbo. This is why they have such dedicated fans.
Some people have had bad luck with maintenance, but I have not. I’ve owned 3 now - a Golf II, a Golf City (Mark IV), and a B6 Passat. No major problems, but not the cheapest cars to own either.

Must not have been a super base model with the smallest engine?

Probably, if it had the 2.slow he would be endlessly crying and throwing up and raging about how slow and terrible it was.

It was a 2011 2.5 SE. Not sure what level that engine was but she said it’s nearly top of the line that year. (excluding GLI if they had it that year probably.)

She said she loved it for the maintenance too. Her family has a history of Diesels for some reason but hers is a Gas car. Parents have a Mercedes and a Touareg Diesel.

Yeah the 2.5 is the inline 5 engine with a turbo I think. So much better than the base 2.0 4 cylinder. That engine was god awful

what trim level? We own two jettas (2011 2.5 SE and a 2012 Jetta GLI Autobahn, both stick) and we love them both!

2.5 SE. Automatic, but even that was pretty good.

The 2.Slow is also ancient. It is the exact same engine I had in my 2002 Jetta.

But how long did you own each?

The Golf I bought almost new (22000 km) and kept for 5 years until we bought the Passat for our growing family. I would have kept it, otherwise. The Passat we’ve had for 4 years I think.
